Literature Text

Two months later, it was Valentine’s Day. You didn’t have a real Valentine. You jokingly asked one of your friends, who did not have a Valentine either, to be your Valentine. They accepted, going along with the joke, and you had a Valentine. The two of you drew very ugly looking hearts for each other. It was perfect.

When you got home, you were greeted with a snowball to the face. You wiped the snow off and glared playfully at the guilty snowball thrower. You laughed.

“Nice one, Frosty.”

“Why, thank you.” Jack smirked. For some reason, this made you all giddy. Nope. There was no reason to feel that way. Therefore, you were not going to feel that way.

“You’re so stupid.”

“That’s not a nice word, snowflake.”

“Look at how much I care.” You did a little dance to show him how much you cared. Jack chuckled in amusement.

“That’s a nice dance you got there.”

Oh God. Why were you blushing? No, don’t do that. Blushing about something your friend said should not make you blush. Hold up. Were you starting to have a crush on Jack? Say it isn’t so. Please, say this wasn’t happening. You refused to feel this way towards him.

Of course you would figure this out on Valentine’s Day. It was sickeningly cliché and cheesy. You could bet that Cupid was getting a kick out of this.

“Something the matter, snowflake?”

“What- no. Nothing’s wrong.”

“Uh huh. I see.” Jack wasn’t buying that.

“I… uh…”

“Hm?”

“Let’s get inside. I’m getting chilly.”

“Okay.”

The two of you headed towards your house and got inside. Your heart was pounding as Jack walked next to you. My goodness, this stupid infatuation was awful! You had to get over it. This would just cause grief and screw up your friendship. You sat down on your bed while Jack laid down next to you. You two started to talk about how school went, and you told a funny story about something your friends did. You two laughed and without even realizing what you were doing, you kissed Jack on the lips. You were a total idiot. Jack froze, totally caught off guard by what you had just now done. You pulled away quickly.

“I… oh jeez, I’m so sorry. I didn’t even…”

“It’s, uh, it’s fine.”

“I’m sorry. I just… I think I like you,” you confessed. Jack looked uncomfortable. Poor guy.

“…”

“It’s fine if you don’t like me back. Like, I totally understand. I don’t care,” you rambled, trying to fix everything.

“I’m sorry. I can’t say that I like you back,” Jack responded. To be honest, Jack had never even thought about kissing you. He couldn’t picture himself dating you. You were a good friend, and he didn’t want to risk the chances of ruining your friendship.

“That’s fine. We’re cool, right?”

“Yeah. We’re cool.”

And with that, Jack left to go off and bring a snowstorm to Russia. You sighed and fell back on your bed. You now knew how Eponine felt, except  Jack didn't like someone else.

Another month flew by, and you and Jack avoided talking about the kiss or your crush on him. The day pretty much never even happened. Your crush on him faded away for a short period of time, but one day it came back even stronger. It was rather bothersome.

Now, it was your birthday. You were born on March 20th, the first day of spring. When you woke up, your family sang happy birthday and showered you with love and birthday presents. Your father made a special breakfast before you went to school. Your friends made everyone in your class sing to you when you arrived at school.

When you came home, you opened your presents and celebrated your birthday. As you were doing your homework, you fell asleep. You were having a rather pleasant dream, but it suddenly took a turn for the worst. You had once been laughing and having a nice time with your friends, but they were torn away from you by a black claw. You couldn’t get them back. They were sucked into a black hole that seemed to be bottomless. You were alone. An eerie feeling sent chills down your spine, and a wave of hot air hit the back of your neck. You turned around to see a pair of golden eyes staring you down.

You were awakened by someone shaking you frantically. Your eyes snapped open, and you looked up to the owner of the arm on your shoulder. It was Jack. His expression was a mixture of fear and worry.

“Are you okay?” asked Jack with concern in his tone. You inhaled a shaky breath and nodded.

“Yeah,” you whispered. You couldn’t stop shaking. Jack seemed just as scared as you. You were ignorant to why he was so terrified. In your three months of knowing him, you hadn’t seen Jack truly scared.

“Come on, we’re leaving.”

“What? Why?”

“Just come on.”

“All right, all right. I’m coming,” you mumbled while getting out of your chair. Jack grabbed your wrist with a grip as strong as iron and the two of you flew out the window. You and Jack were flying as fast as lightning. The cold air hit your face and rolled off your cheeks like cold knives. Your hair would surely look horrendous when you landed. Snowflakes blew in your face and melted due to your warm temperature.

You landed in front of a gigantic Russian palace. It was extremely cold, and you shivered slightly.

“Where are we?” you questioned as you rubbed your arms.

“The North Pole. We’re at North’s Workshop.”

“Are you seri-“ Jack interrupted you and dragged you towards the doors of the palace. He opened the doors of the large building, and you were surprised to see numerous creatures speaking gibberish. It seemed like a normal occurrence, for Jack didn’t seem to think anything of it. He even greeted one of them. He guided you to an area with a large globe.

There, North was there with three other people.

“Ah, Jack! We were just about to get you!”

“Hey, North.”

“Jack!” A blur of blue and green flew up to Jack. The blur opened up his mouth and inspected his teeth. You realized the blue and green person as the Tooth Fairy. “Your teeth are still as beautiful as ever! Keep up the good work! Oh, who’s this girl? She’s so pretty! Is she your girlfriend? Let me see her teeth!” The Tooth Fairy then looked at your teeth. “They’re very straight! Your brushing is excellent! Oh my, your flossing is good too!”

You tried to respond, but it was difficult to do so with her hands in your mouth. Thankfully, North came to your rescue.

“Fingers out of mouth, Tooth.”

“Oh, sorry! I just get excited when I see new teeth!” she apologized.

“It’s fine.”

“Now, Jack, what brings you here with your friend?” asked North.

“She had a nightmare. I think Pitch is back,” Jack answered. North nodded solemnly.

“Yes, he is. That is why we have gathered everyone here.”

“I don’t get it. I thought we had gotten rid of him last time. How did he manage to come back again?” questioned the Easter Bunny. He was taller than you imagined, and he looked more like a kangaroo than a bunny. The Sandman was by his side sipping eggnog from a little cup.

“He must’ve regained his energy over time,” mused North. Just then, the Sandman pointed out a beam of light radiating from a window.

“Ah! It’s Man in Moon! How are you, old friend?”

The beam of light traveled to a design on the floor, and there it opened and a stone rose up from the ground.

“A new Guardian?” questioned North.

“Maybe it’s the Leprechaun this time!” wondered Tooth.

“Please don’t be the Groundhog,” pleaded Bunnymund.

A hologram appeared. Jack’s eyes widened, and your jaw dropped. It was you.
Awyeah, now we can get the real plot going now. I was going to publish this last night, but my dad made me go to bed. Oh well. Here it is.
